After 50 years without playing, I needed a slow intro when I picked my horn back up. It's ALMOST slow enough, but it's not the fault of the author that I am so out of practice. The pieces are simple and recognizable, and I hope will get me back where I need to be so I can at least join the local community orchestra!
I recently decided to start playing my flute again. It's been 20 years. I will never sound like I did when I played 8 hours a day but playing music is an activity that speaks to my heart and my spirit feels good. This is a good place to start or start over.
I guess I feel fooled. Granted it did say easy but it also said solos. Nothing in here is a solo, most are just very short and very very easy small excerpts. Several of them consisted of just 2-3 notes (pitches), For me, this was much, much too minimal, other than the Bach Jesu, they are so basic that they are not musical, no one is going to want to hear you play these, other than the Bach. An OK book I guess for someone really truly just starting in music at all. The book is poorly and really not professionally made as well. After I learned the Bach, which I could have just done by ear, I put the book into the wood stove for the sake of the BTUs, not a keeper.
This book gives me some solo music sheets, I can practice with it. I like it. I did not have any solo music for tuba before I bought this one. I'll practice these musics to improve my skills.
This is a nice little book and I'll use it with my students. It goes up above the staff and has too many long phrases to really be easy.When I read through it I suspected this book was not written by a horn player. If you search on the author's name you'll find he has written books on guitar and ukelele.Is it worth 10 bucks with free shipping? Eh.
This is just the product I wanted. Check out the "look inside" view. It's familiar classic pieces, simplified. This will not challenge anyone over the beginner level, fyi.
Good, solid, classical tuba solos for the beginning to moderate player. I use these to run through an easy practice without too much headache when I want to just hammer some things out to keep my lips in shape.
This book is not tremendiusly challenging, but as a former college tuba player, its a good warm up fornme as I work my way back after not playing for nearly a decade.... it would be a great book for beginners.
