Actually, this guide worked hard at providing several maps and discussions of activities in and around Sydney. Insets in the several maps provided would have shown where they were talking about (in relation to the downtown) rather than me trying to figure it out. A larger map is provided in the back of the guide to be used separately.Let's face it, most non-Australian travelers will come by air or by cruise line. Finding these locations and getting to and from them is, in my opinion, weak in this document. Yet, conversely, this guide would be good for an Australian tourist, if they have a vague idea about the layout of Sydney.Also, a BIG deficiency in Australian guide books are the details of staying at the Sydney International airport, getting to and from the airport, where the airport is in relation to the CBD, do bus loops go by the airport, where are the train terminals at the airport and CDB.... for some reason their airport is not significant in their city business? "Air travel" is a one line entry in this book in the index - the discussion in the book seems to minimal!!This is still a reasonable purchase, if you are spending a day or more in Sydney.
This is one of three day by day guides I have purchased. I like the plastic covered map in the back folder as well as the fold out flaps on inside front cover. Nice compact size also.
I have gotten many Frommer's books in the past and this is the weakest. Doesn't really have good annotated walks or provide enough information . I wound up having to buy another book -- an Eyewitness to supplement.

This is a great tool for a first time trip to Sydney. I was disappointed, however, to find that even though this was a new edition it was not updated.
