I love James Patterson and have read everyone of his books. I, Michael Bennett was such a disappoinment. You get to the last page and think "What the hell just happened, did my Kindle drop some pages." You don't know how the books ends. How long do we have to wait for a sequel. Not fair to the Patterson readers!!

I'm late to the party for this series of books from James Patterson, but that doesn't mean I was disappointed in not having know about them. I just need to keep my eyes open better for future books in the series.NYPD Red is a specialized unit of Detectives in the New York Police Department who are tasked with solving crimes that involve or revolve around the wealthy, politically connected, or just plain old celebrities. In other words these Detectives and their Captain need to know how to handle the elite and their harsh personalities.In this first book of the series the city of New York is trying it's best to lure the Movie and Television Industry to come to New York and make more flicks there instead of in Hollywood. Unfortunately a disgruntled and disturbed individual wants to sabotage the week of events scheduled. So, this person sets about to start murdering people who are wealthy, connected and part of the Hollywood scene.At first it seems like just one murder, but as the bodies pile up the NYPD Red team his overdrive to try and solve the crimes.There are a bunch of little sub-plots that run through the novel involving the two main detectives, Detective Jordan and Detective McDonald. It seems they have a past dating relationship and that causes some issues. BUT, they are the top two Detectives in New York and they have a very unorthodox way of solving crimes, they break the rules!Having worked with police officers as a police chaplain I found the descriptions of the characters very accurate and reasonable even though people might think Patterson has exaggerated them a bit.Will Jordan and McDonald be able to stop this crusader / murderer before he or she can kill hundreds? That's the question and the heart stopping action will keep you reading.Enjoy!

Their investigation reveals that this is not a simple murder and robbery. The culprit is after far more, and the danger increases as our detectives get closer. The suspense, action, and interplay between the detectives make for a page-turner that is most satisfying.

Detective Bennett becomes involved in investigating a Mexican drug cartel leader, that has world class training, both in business and has developed an attitude of unconcern, as he believes himself greater than the common folk.During the investigation Detective Bennett manages to chase the suspect and apprehend him, and in so doing,witnesses the suspect killing someone to enhance his chances in order to get away.The suspect's organization kills the presiding judge of the trial and the manages a daring escape all on the orders of the suspect, as he corrupts anyone around him.An excellently written book from a well known writer.

I just received my copy. This is a gorgeous book. The narrations is superb and the illustrations are extraordinary. When I opened it and went through the pages, my heart was immediately uplifted. Definitely recommend this book especially with the holidays upon us.

This is a charming story about fairies, and the illustrations are absolutely adorable. Have you ever thought about what fairies do when the seasons change? My daughter loved reading the book, and is excited to help the fairies in our neighborhood by making a fairy garden of her own. This book is a fun addition to our home library, and one I will be buying more copies of during my holiday shopping. :)

This is a delight and just right for fairy believers to continue their support and love of fairies during the winter in parts of the country that get cold and snowy. I gave it as a gift and it is adored!!

Where Do Fairies Go When It Snows is a whimsical tale that questions what fairies do during the winter months. Do they hibernate? Do they bundle up? What do you believe?The book is stated as being for grades Preschool – Second Grade (2 – 7 years) but I think that is stretching it a bit. My daughter is seven and just entering second grade and it took her maybe two minutes to read it. It’s definitely more appropriate for younger readers. That said, my daughter did enjoy it as she loves fairies and has asked before what fairies do when it’s cold outside. The text is accompanied with cute drawings while will help appeal to younger readers as well.A cute read.

This is a cute book about Fairies. It shows some of the things fairies do to take care of the birds and animals. It asks questions about what fairies do during various times of the year and how they live. The story is told in rhyme and has gorgeous illustrations. It then briefly talks about humans taking care of each other like the fairies. The last page is a cute list of what you can do to help take care of the fairies and birds in the winter. Any child who likes fairies will love this book.

It's not organized like a regular cookbook (a negative), so you will rely on the index quite a bit when looking for a specific recipe or type of food. Most of the recipes are simple enough, what you would expect of "clam shack food", and geared to the typical "home cook" instead of "restaurant chef" (this is a good thing, IMO). The recipes are all seafood-based (lobster, clam, oyster, fish, chowders) or seafood associated (Kale Soup, which is better than it sounds, and Cape Ann Bread, for instance).The last few pages of the book are devoted to the index, of course, but there is also a useable listing of New England clam shacks, lobster pounds, and chowder houses, listed by state and including addresses, telephone numbers, and pertinent information (hours, BYOB, etc.) Also included is a page of "Resources", which lists mail order sources for some of the ingredients use in the recipes, although I have yet to come across a recipe that required items not readily available from a local market (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania area, your mileage may differ).In summary, I like this book. It's not a definitive cookbook of seafood dishes; it is what it says on the cover, a clam shack cookbook.

Great cookbook, well presented recipes and pictures!

Great cookbook that brings me back to my childhood growing up in Fall River, Massachusetts. I've often visited the seafood restraunts featured in this book and still do, when I visit. I enjoyed reading about new places and trying out new recipes. I've already made clamcakes, which were DELICIOUS!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this book!!!!

Just GREAT! this book is so informative, funny & entertaining & ohh so delicious. I love this book and cant wait to visit some of these clam shacks and try not only clam recipes but also seafood, breads and desert recipes from all over New England.

The recipes are easy to follow, and not too eomplicated to be beyond your summer-cottage fare. We have enjoyed every single recipe we have used - thanks for the newsy background on all the little restaurants as well. It's a fun read - and a great cook book.

I received my copy yesterday and read the whole book in one sitting. Atticus never disappoints. There is something soul-stirring about his words. Each poem hit me deeply.I love the photographs as well. Very artistic.

I’m a huge fan of this poet. This book was pure perfection from the cover to the last word. I devoured it and the images in this book are stunning and go with the poems perfectly. It was definitely worth the wait and I think I love this one even more than his first if that’s possible. He is hands down my favorite poet. His wording are healing and beautiful. I highly recommend this book.

This is what I thought...1) The price point on my hardcover copy is more than fair.2) The book itself is a high quality print.3) The poetry inside is magical. I love it. Atticus knows how to pull the reader in with emotional and romantic appeal. The poems moved me and at times I even cried. I felt like, I was a part of the narratives the poems depict.If you like to read, love poetry, and are a romantic at heart, then these poems will captivate you. I recommend this book to everyone. I bought this book with high hopes for a refreshing dose of poetry, but was sorely disappointed. The poems read like they were written by a middle school boy jotting down any random, vaguely poetic thoughts that come to mind. Completely unoriginal and uninspirational. Much of it is just reworded quotes from other people anyways. I don’t even think over half of these qualify as real poems? It’s unfortunatrly the sad reality of modern poetry. It’s disappointing that poetry of this quality is what youth will be reading when they could be reading actual poetry. This was a waste of my money

This book is VERY similar to his first book, Love Her Wild. I maybe expected something a little different. After reading his second book, I am beginning to think his poetry is a little too simple. It's like simple poems about 5 simple topics over and over. Lovely pictures and artistry. I even like his poetry. Just not enough there to warrant putting it in a book and publishing it.

I felt like Atticus was cheering me on the whole time. When I read the poems I felt comforted, like I'm not alone; others have fought these battles and won, and so can I.

This is a birthday present for a granddaughter this book is so much better bound than just paperback only $1. more than what target had it. Sure she is going to treasure it for years.

I wanted to get into poetry more, but this was a terrible place to start. It’s not really “poetry,” it’s just a collection of thoughts everyone has. There’s some cool language used, and maybe it’s just not for me, but I like to read things that have unique value and meaning.

I love Joanna Schlip. She is an amazing make up artist, but this book is not for anyone who is looking for dramatic make up looks. All are very light looks, like for young girls that are just starting out with make up. So yes for the teenage beginner that wants to look very natural with almost no make up. I picked this because I saw Joanna in a make up dvd and her work in that wa amazing! Joanna please do more videos or books with more info and dramtic looks.

This was a gift for my granddaugher[12] she was thrilled and couldnt wait to try out different looks,lovely colorful pages

I picked up this book for my niece at a local book store and paid quite a bit more for it than what Amazon is selling it for. The book itself is worth much more than even its list price. Loads of great photos and tons of inspirational and informational content. My niece hasn't put the book down, and I'm sure that I'll be buying her another copy come Christmas.

My daughter asked me to buy this book yesterday at B& Noble. I liked it...enough to send to my nieces (in middle school & high school). Finally, there's somebody else out there that validates what I've been saying all along--Stop with the racoon eyes and the 'hard' look. It's a good book...wish the author would follow up with something like this for the 45+ crowd. Just a suggestion.

The 12 year old girl I gave it to for Christmas loved it. She did not put it down all afternoon. She liked the notable teens featured in the book and its makeup info.

I found this book very helpful. I got tips on how to make my makeup look better and I got tips for my confidence.

Overall I found this book to be helpful in understanding the inner workings of the Zend Framework. The low score I gave this book is attributed to the several errors in the code examples. It seems this book was rushed to publication and nobody verified that the code examples worked.If you are like me and like to build the code as you read each chapter then this book is NOT for you. I could never get the code to work as written in the book. I would advise that you download the companion code from the publisher's website. The code from the site seems to have been tweaked after the publication of the book and does run correctly. Problem is it does not match the code in the book therefore you have to investigate why the book says one way while the code shows it another way. Very frustrating the say the least!I can only recommend this book if the publisher decides to release a second edition with these errors fixed.Regards.

Rob Allen writes in clear, easy to understand fashion. He presents the topic in a logical progression, so the overall picture of the framework is redily grasped.Allan's breadth of knowledge on the subject and experience in writing makes for relaxed presentation and quick absorbtion of the subject for the reader.The Chapters are subdivided into numbered sections for easy reference and each section leads logically into the next.Allen not only tells the 'what' but also the 'why' of how things are done within the framework which aids in understanding the philosophy used in the design approach.Tips and techniques are sprinkled liberally throughout the book. These tidbits, such as how to prevent your site from being hacked, are extremely helpful.This is not only a well written explanation of the Zend Framework but also a useful reference tool as well.

I bought this book because I saw it mentioned on many tutorials about Zend all over the web and I am not disapointed. It has all the information you need to understand the Model View Controller way to create web sites and the source code used in the examples is well explained.I also found that the editorial behind this book cares a lot about its customers, I asked for an specific part of the source code and they obliged so, if you want a real good book about zend framework to learn or to use as a reference this is the one.

the book is written very well to make it easy to follow. I was looking for a book for an older Zend Framework by purpose, and this one fits my demand.

This is a good book. It really explains the Zend Framework. However, Zend Framework is really a heavy framework and not flexible. (Ruby on Rails is a much better framework.) After reading this book, I decided not to go ahead to use Zend Framework.

Here are my reasons why I gave this book a 1 star1. The code snippets in the book are sometimes erroneous and very different from what's included in the code bundle download.2. When explaining a complex framework to a beginner, needless tangential code (like preventing cross site scripting and SQL injection attacks) are a distraction. This book has a lot of this.3. Some code is very poorly explained.4. Ajax is explored even before Database access is explained.5. I found an entire section on how to insert and update records for related tables using Zend_Db missing.6. The example the authors use (an application called places which allows users to review places that are kid friendly and post review comments) is invoked in bits and pieces throughout the application. There is no smooth flow.All in all, this is a badly written book, which is frustrating to read. And once you start a book, you have no choice but to finish it to get what you can from it. If you are someone new to the Zend Framework, I'd give this book a skip. Sorry I don't have any other Zend book to recommend, but I am sure a little searching will find you the right one. Avoid this book.

As anyone who pre-ordered this book knows, it was way off its release schedule. That may explain the numerous errors in the book.I am only on day 2 of the book and so far I have found at least 5 errors. These are not misprints but clear technical errors. The errors are in differing areas too, so not like the author simply misunderstood something, which leads me to believe this book, while already late, was rushed out of the door.The book comes with online source code, and my advice would be to get it. If you follow the source in the book you will get errors both from the database code and the PHP code. In chapter 3, for example, the author lays out a database table schema which clearly states that certain fields cannot be NULL and have no default value, and then goes on to state INSERT statements that miss these fields out...thus generating an error. Another example is where on one page the application library folder is called just that in an image, but then i the PHP code it is referred to as "lib", again creating an error when the code is ran.On the plus side the detail is very good. The first couple of chapters lay out the "why"s and "where"s of Zend Framework, and the real world example that the book builds on gives you a much more usable path of learning than someone simply telling you the details of the framework itself. Definitely a preferred approach for me!I would like to rate the book higher but having to wait for almost an extra month to get it and then penciling in the errata certainly does not build confidence in it.Paul AllsoppWebtop-Designs
