This is a great intro to Blender basics. The guide introduces concepts a few at a time for separate exercises, giving step-by-step instructions on how to put them to use, then reviewing the exercise by showing how each element interacts. From these basic concepts you can get started down the path of computer graphics and animation. With lots of screenshots to accompany each step, it's foolproof. It's straightforward and easy-to-read.The book is really accessible and easy to use. I have some background in programming and basic Android development, but very little knowledge of producing art on PCs apart form basic GIMP. This book was a great first step into Blender, a handy guide for starting into computer graphics, and I recommend it!

As a total newbie in Blender, I wanted a simple and straightforward book to teach me the basics to get me started. This book does exactly that. I liked the fact that the author tries to keep things simple and the usage of lots of screenshots that show you exactly what each step does. In all, a good straightforward book that taught me the basics as well as certain very useful and time-saving tricks. An enabler to get you into more serious 3d modeling.

I really cant understand why the writer had given so much consideration about how one could acquire skills in 3d modeling and didn’t bother to do some proof reading .The book really is fun to read , easy to understand and goes step by step into building knowledge and skills.I am a bit annoyed by the lack of formatting, empty spaces at the bottom of some pages all this tiny things that detract from professionalism , that's why I give a 4 star review.All in all the book helped me , its content in contrast with its formatting… is well structured and the illustrations really help you in learning blender.

I hate to be the first bummer here. I am working my way through this book and the absolute lack of consistent spelling, grammar and especially punctuation make it very difficult.The formatting of the text is also a complete mystery at times. The pictures are tiny, unclear and hard to use as accurate reference.I understand that English is not the author's 1st language, and I strongly encourage the effort made to publish this book.The text deserves at least one proper proof reading, some editing or at minimum a spell check.Publishing a Kindle version I believe would help with the images and the formatting concerns.There are many competing books on Amazon and for $20 I expect not to get bombarded with typos.

Full disclosure - I don't like 3D animation, so I'm the worst kind of student - the unmotivated one. However, as things go in life, the need occurred to familiarize myself with the basics of Blender. Frankly, I did not have great expectations towards this book. I have used program manuals before and generally been underwhelmed.This book managed to surprise me on three accounts. Firstly, the walk-throughs were detailed and usable for a complete beginner, as the author did not seem to take for granted that the reader knows at least some of the functions. Besides the details, they also had something that I've missed in most manuals - along with the instruction, the author explained shortly and without unnecessary technological jargon what the particular functions of the program do.Secondly, the voice of the author - the narrator if you wish - was friendly,and well.. human. Reading the instructions felt in fact less like reading them and more like listening to someone sitting next to you and explaining what to do.Thirdly, this book encourages the reader to take notes, and not only in the standard way of providing the special pages for notes. The one thing this book could definitely use is better proofreading. However, for someone like me who generally does not like writing notes in a book, as it "ruins" them, this turned out to be a good thing, as it did not feel like a semi-sacred text, but a workbook in the most literal sense. (By the way, there is ample space for notes just next to the instructions as well.)

I read this after seeing the movie. Where the movie does do the book justice, this goes deeper into Odd's thoughts, and feelings (it's narrated by him) and his history. Odd Thomas can see "the lingering dead" and with this ability and others he discovers an impending disaster and does his very best to stop it. The climax of the story hits hard and fast and is quite the page turner. Though this book isn't for everyone, anyone could enjoy it. I'm happy the book has an ending, and the reader isn't forced to continue reading the series. However, there are some questions that come up that I hope are answered in the following books, and I look forward to reading them.

The titular character is Odd in name and odd in abilities. A twenty year old, short order fry cook with the gift or the curse to see the dead. He lives in the small California desert town of Pico Mundo, which translates into "peak of the world." I initially thought that our hero's name was Thomas and Odd was an apt description of him. He very quickly dispels this belief in the first few chapters. The name bestowed upon him is Odd, and despite his mundane occupation and humble domicile, our poor MC's life has been anything but. This story seems a mere snippet of what Odd has endured since birth, but his latest adventure may destroy everything he holds near and dear.In most stories where the main character has some special power, he/she is rarely if ever believed. I like that Odd has a fantastic support system and numerous friends including even the chief of police. Police officers are usually the least likely people to buy into such madness, but Chief Porter does. He's like a father to Odd, something our young hero desperately needs. Odd doesn't have to bear the burden of his ability alone. It's not a completely secret power; it's just a power.The people who know not only accept that he has it, they trust him with it, and his friends are all so eclectic: Viola and her daughters Nicolina and Levanna, Terry his boss with her Elvis obsession, his landlady Rosalia Sanchez, who asks him every day if she is visible, the fore mentioned Chief Porter and his wife Karla, Little Ozzie who is probably the largest man in the town, and of course, the love of his life Stormy Llewellyn. While all of them do not know what he's capable of, they all accept that he is Odd. He is an example of the "hiding power in simple places" trope where we often see the orphan or the foundling who was left or hidden to conceal and protect who they are and what they have. Odd is also extremely polite, another thing I enjoyed especially coming from one so young where they're often and tritely portrayed as rude. He calls everyone either "sir" or "ma'am" and there's no one he treats with disrespect.Koontz pulls you in right away with Odd's powers manifesting themselves in a little girl named Penny Kalisto. The dead never talk to him, but they have a way of making themselves heard. The ones that still linger do so for a reason, and Odd feels it is his duty to divine. Seeing the dead is not his only power, but I won't spoil the surprise.Even though I figured out the major twist long before the final chapter, I still give this tale high marks and have added the second novel, Forever Odd, to my reading list. There's also apparently a movie that I'll need to check out.Odd Thomas wears its sadness like a pall. It lurks between each word and is the foundation of every sentence."Perseverance is impossible if we don't permit ourselves to hope."

First published back in 2004, Volume One of the Odd Thomas series has deservedly earned the title of Supernatural Classic. Describing the book’s plot to a friend who is not overly familiar with either Dean Koontz or the horror genre, she quickly surmised the book to be a mystery. And it is, sort of. But not really.It all boils down to the fact that Odd Thomas can see dead people. But as Mr Koontz says in his own words, "... he [Odd] actually DOES something about it...”. It is a good thing, therefore, as an incredibly bold (or is that naive?) twenty one year old, that he has strong connections with the town Sheriff. And that in the context of this story, his girlfriend - Stormy Lleweyn - is the niece of the village Catholic Priest. As i approach the halfway mark, I am yet to meet the entire cast of characters, but those that have been introduced to the reader are full of depth, humour, intelligence and to summarise, are all beautifully and immaculately presented. My favourite is the amateur mystery novelist Ollie, who is so overweight that the term “obese” does not even fit his literary persona. But what an amazingly intellectual mind he has! And with such friendship and plutonic love he holds for Odd, he is almost like the Father Odd never knew. There is a plethora of supporting characters, too, which are a joy to meet, but I won’t ruin the surprise for any of those that have not completed this supernatural fantasy by mentioning them here. But brace yourself. *grins*And speaking of the bad guys - which I wasn’t - but I am now - they too are as delightful and fun to read about as they were for Mr Koontz to write about. The main antagonist for Odd is a “gentleman” called the Fungus Man - who not only turns out to be a devoted follower of some of the most evil men in history but also possesses the rare (and unwanted) talent of attracting sentient voids of the universe (aka “bodachs”) just about anywhere he goes. And of course the Fungus Man has an almost supernatural ability to “be” just about anywhere he “needs” to be virtually at will.For readers who are interested, there are a couple of phrases inserted into the body of the book that could almost be described as Mr Koontz being autobiographical. For example, taken from location 1504 of the kindle version: “Ozzie’s success doesn’t in the least surprise me. He likes people and he listens to them, and that love of humanity shines out of his pages.” The quintessential Koontzanism? I think so.So what is the book really about? Is it a standalone novel? Or merely the prologue to arguably the first and greatest supernatural fantasy series of all time? Well in my opinion, it is both. Clearly the Fungus Man must be stopped. He is bad. Odd Thomas (and his small army of friends) represent the forces of good in the tiny town of Pico Mundo and they will (of course) do their darnedest to protect its integrity. So our role as readers, of course, is to sit on the sidelines, cheer on the good guys, and hope for the outcome we all want. Because if Mr Odd fails to overcome the invading evil and achieve his destiny, how on earth is Mr Koontz going to write eight more fantastic books to read?I hereby award this book a very solid four stars, despite its status as the opening stanza to a legendary series. I cant wait to see how this story finishes, and of course i can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the books and start devouring them like a vampire devouring virginal blood. But just don’t let Odd Thomas see me!BFN Greggorio!

It was very useful to buy the 3rd book as my son is preparing to take the SHSAT test in the updated format this year. I was very glad to see the 3rd book to come out as we used the first two volumes to prepare when my older child was taking the test a few years back (and passed). The structure and material provides necessary understanding of the concepts and promotes skills to be comfortable with actual exam. Highly recommend as the more your child trains with close to real life scenarios, the higher chances he/she gets to pass.

This is the third book by this author that I bought !It's an excellent SHSAT preparation book - simple and straight to the point explanation of the concept with multiple exercises to master the skills.I got all three books for my daughter and her math test results ( in class) significantly improved.

A few nits: no answer sheet is provided and we found at least two errors in the practice test. My son spent most of his review time on practice tests rather than practice questions and I bought this one for the practice test.

Great book on preparation for the shsat with good explanations and practice problems.

This is a wonderful book. I got it as a gift for my son and could not stop thanking a friend for this thoughtful present. The problems are challenging and very clear. This is a gigantic leap forward from a usual drilling approach. The child has to develop a strategy in order to get comfortable wirh these assignments. The book is exceptionally well organized and encompasses a broad range of Mathematical concepts incorporated into SHSAT. It is a great learning/practice tool that provides a child with a real taste of the upcoming exam.Within a week my son has significantly benefited from this book in terms of sharpening his strategic skills and time management.He recommended this book to quite a few friends!

I just returned from two weeks exploring Paraguay with some friends. Having both a local friend as a guide and this book were a great combo. The book covers nearly everything you need to know to have a great time visiting some amazing places. It even covered some topics, like appropriate disposal of toilet paper(!), that my local friend forgot to mention. I highly recommend this guide as a safe, quality resource for traveling and learning about the culture in Paraguay.

Excellent travel guide to Paraguay.Paraguay is a country with a fascinating history and interesting areas.Hopefully, this book will increase tourism in Paraguay.

"You don't understand what, Piotr?""You forgive the French," Piotr replied, scratching a woolly sideburn, "so why not the Germans? Both of them have invaded Mother Russia."Pavel frowned. "If you Can't see the difference, Piotr, you're a fool.""That's not an answer," said Ivan, one of four men seated in the back."It happens to be true," grinned Eduard, who was seated beside him, "but Ivan is right. It isn't an answer."Pavel shifted gears. This was the part of the nightly, half-hour commute to the Nepokorennykh Prospekt apartments that he hated most. Just two minutes out from the Hermitage, they had to slow as they neared the bottleneck at the Neva River. They were mired in traffic while his political nemeses were proceeding at full speed.Pavel pulled a neatly-rolled cigarette from his shirt pocket and Piotr lit it for him."Thanks, Piotr.""You still haven't answered me," Piotr said."I will," Pavel insisted, "when we've gotten onto the bridge. I Can't think and curse at the same time."Pavel swung the van suddenly from the center lane to the left lane, jolting the men to the other side. He and his comrades wouldn't even be driving this van if the TV studio hadn't provided it. The powerful Swiss-made vehicle was the only thing he would miss.No, that isn't true, he thought as he glanced west. He savored the sight of the Peter and Paul Fortress on the opposite banks of the Neva as the setting sun glinted off its tall, graceful spires.He would also miss St. Petersburg. He would miss the beauty of these blazing orange sunsets on the Gulf of Finland, the calming flow of the blue waters of the Neva, the Fontanka, and the Yekateringofki rivers, and the simple splendor of the many Canals. Though the waters were still somewhat dirty from years of Communist neglect, they were no longer thick with foul-smelling industrial waste as they wound through the heart of the ancient city, Russia's Venice. He would miss the majesty of the ruby-red Belozersky Palace, the gilt interiors of the Alexander Nevsky Chapel, where he sometimes went to pray, the towering golden onion domes of Catherine the Great's palace, and the peaceful gardens and cascading fountains of Peter the Great's palace, Petrodvorets. He would miss the sleek, white hydrofoils that skimmed along the Neva looking like something from a science fiction novel by Stanislaw Lem -- and he would miss the magnificent battleships that dwarfed them, coming and going to the Nakhimov Naval School on Aptekarsky Island in the Neva.And, of course, he would miss the incomparable Hermitage. Though they weren't supposed to wander in the museum, he always took time to do just that when Colonel Rossky was occupied. Even if someone did see him day after day, he was supposed to be an employee there. No one would give it a thought. Besides, a religious man Can't be put among the likes of Rembrandt's Descent from the Cross, or Carracci's Lamentation of Christ, or his favorite, the School of Ribalta's St. Vincent in a Dungeon, and not be expected to look. Especially when he felt such a kinship to the trapped but resolute St. Vincent.But he would be happy to get away from the work itself, from the stress and the seven-day workweeks and especially the watchful eyes of Colonel Rossky. He had served under the bastard in Afghanistan, and cursed the fate that had brought them back together for the past eighteen months.As he always did when he reached the bridge of the Kirovsky Prospekt, Pavel made his way to the outside lane, with its low concrete barricade and more intrepid motorists. He breathed easier as he settled in among the faster-moving vehicles."You want an answer?" Pavel asked, drawing hard on his cigarette."To which question?" Ivan joked. "The one about your wife?"Pavel scowled. "I'll tell you the difference between the Germans and the French. The French followed Napoleon because they were hungry. They've always put comfort before decency.""What about the Resistance?" Piotr asked."A freak. A reflexive twitch of the corpse. If the Resistance in France had been as strong as the Russian Resistance in Stalingrad, Paris would never have fallen."Pavel applied pressure to the pedal to keep a Volkswagen from cutting right and getting in front of him. Piotr asked. "Our little nest back there cost twenty-five billion rubles! Do you really believe that if Dogin wins he Can cut enough fat from the government and from foreign adventures?"Pavel blew out smoke and nodded.Piotr frowned. He cocked a thumb over his shoulder. "That isn't what I overheard back there. Number Two was talking to an aide about the thieves-in-law. There was no one steering as the truck struck them from behind.The Volkswagen was partly in the right lane as the truck drove the van into it. The right tire exploded, the axle hooked over the top of the barricade, and the van plunged nose-first into the choppy river.There was a hiss as it struck the water, the van standing upright for a long moment before falling over on its back. Steam and air bubbles rose from the sides, mixing with the dissipating green smoke as the van bobbed belly-up on the surface of the river. And whatever it is, it has nothing to do with the museum, and probably indicates something sinister going on in Russia. What is going on is an attempted coup in Russia by some of the old-guard that have teamed up with the military and the Russian mafia. This is a believable story that is fascinating to read!

There are multiple plots in fact to write this I had to go back and review the book since it is multi-layered in plots. It takes place in Russia and covers the infiltration of our spies and forces to pull off a plot of Russia's own military trying to take over the Government. The US has basically committed an act of war but there was good reason and they get in and out with being caught. There are several casualty's and a lot of action. This book will hold your interest through-out the whole book.

This was a good follow-up to the first book in the Op-Venter series. This book gives you more insight to the characters that were introduced in the first book. Highly recommend reading it.

Though I am finished with the book, I highlighted and took a lot of notes on some of the chapters so I’m going to be revisiting this book often when I get stuck in certain social situations with women and try different approaches. I’ve actually used some of the tips that were given from the book and actually got some real results! I think that was probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,getting information from a book than applying it to real life and getting a positive result. It doesn’t get any better than that! This is probably one of the best (if not The Best) books I have ever purchased and I’m glad I did. :)

This book has served as more of a refresher for social confidence when it comes to various settings. Anderw takes you through the appropriate methods to be your best self for the woman you are destined to be with. One of the major nuggets I enjoyed from the book focused on the Internal Mindset and The Grounded Man. A person has to have values and goals to him them steer their future direction. Another great aspect that was incorporated into the book was the use of Toastmasters. I would agree that becoming a effective communicator is relevant to many areas of a person's life. As a Toastmaster, I agree that developing active listening and speaking skills helps to build better relationships. Plus, he inciuded to some great reads that I will have to check out for next year. I would recommend this book for men who need direction when it comes to building a last relationship.

There has been mountains of content written on this issue: how to get the girl. Unfortunately, much of it is either cliche truths or cliche lies, so it's a real gift to huMANity to have Andrew's "The Dating Playbook For Men" burst onto the scene.Andrew digs down to the core of "dating" and gives us eager readers the essential truths we need to hear in order to make serious upgrades to our love lifes. I considered myself a strong dater anyway before reading the book but even I came away with new lessons to employ with women but even more importantly, how "getting the girl" is only a small part of the process of finding an amazing woman to share life with. If you want to know what I'm​ talking about, I highly recommend spending a few bucks on this fine book.

Some good advice. However, I keep getting emails from the author to further spend money on his retreats or programs. So it seems a bit paradoxical that he tells you in the book to have confidence because “you are enough,” yet he can’t get enough of your hard earned cash because apparently you really must not be enough. I mean hey, we can all stand improvement in some areas of our lives. It just doesn’t have to cost a fortune.Plus, some of what is written is not really applicable to responsible dads with kids (even part of the time). It seems more aimed at guys who have a lot more time on their hands to go to clubs, bars, or parties. However, the free separate and short pdf files on texting and online dating the author has available for free helped make up for that.
