About the Author

Dr Kery is a Population Ecologist with the Swiss Ornithological Institute and a courtesy professor ("Privatdozent") at the University of Zürich/Switzerland, from where he received his PhD in Ecology in 2000. He is an expert in the estimation and modeling of abundance, distribution and species richness in "metapopulation designs" (i.e., collections of replicate sites). For most of his work, he uses the Bayesian model fitting software BUGS and JAGS, about which he has published two books with Academic Press (2010 and 2012). He has authored/coauthored 70 peer-reviewed articles and four book chapters. Since 2007, and for a total of 103 days, he has taught 23 statistical modeling workshops about the methods in the proposed book at research institutes and universities all over the world.Dr Royle is currently a Research Statistician at the U.S. Geological Survey's Patuxent Wildlife Research Center. His research is focused on the application of probability and statistics to ecological problems, especially those related to animal sampling and demographic modeling. Much of his research over the last 10 years has been devoted to the development of methods illustrated in our new book. He has authored or coauthored more than 100 journal articles, and co-authored the books Spatial Capture Recapture, Hierarchical Modeling and Inference in Ecology and Occupancy Estimation and Modeling: Inferring Patterns and Dynamics of Species Occurrence, all published by Academic Press.

Charles M. Schulz was born November 25, 1922, in Minneapolis. His destiny was foreshadowed when an uncle gave him, at the age of two days, the nickname Sparky (after the racehorse Spark Plug in the newspaper strip Barney Google).In his senior year in high school, his mother noticed an ad in a local newspaper for a correspondence school, Federal Schools (later called Art Instruction Schools). Schulz passed the talent test, completed the course, and began trying, unsuccessfully, to sell gag cartoons to magazines. (His first published drawing was of his dog, Spike, and appeared in a 1937 Ripley's Believe It or Not! installment.) Between 1948 and 1950, he succeeded in selling 17 cartoons to the Saturday Evening Post―as well as, to the local St. Paul Pioneer Press, a weekly comic feature called Li'l Folks. It was run in the women's section and paid $10 a week. After writing and drawing the feature for two years, Schulz asked for a better location in the paper or for daily exposure, as well as a raise. When he was turned down on all three counts, he quit.He started submitting strips to the newspaper syndicates. In the spring of 1950, he received a letter from the United Feature Syndicate, announcing their interest in his submission, Li'l Folks. I bought because husbands cancer diagnosis. Dr. Colbert 100% spot on! Husband couldn't eat because of bloat. Cancer doctors wanted him to get peg tube in stomach. I'll decide if the book is valid or invalid by the results I experience using the ketogenic diet to create an unfriendly environment for cancer cells within my body.Colbert covers the use of food to combat a range of diseases; including: heart disease, obesity, arthritis, ADHD, Type 2 diabetes, cancer, and more. From my own experience, I know that Colbert is spot on with regards to diabetes and heart disease. I've suffered from both, and have managed to not only survive, but thrive by using my own versions of his modified Mediterranean Diet.I'm anxious to once again get a healthy eating program underway and to experience the results of cancer being stopped in its tracks.So.... in 6 months, ask me how I feel about this book, the eating programs, and the other valuable information provided by this volume.Colbert's style is down to earth and is written in English, rather than some "Medicinese" journal or text book. In 2003 I had my first stroke at the age of 51 after living a healthy lifestyle(or so I thought). I've been in extreme pain due from the aftermath of the stroke and from several really bad falls. I had resigned myself to the life of a recluse and not participating much in anything. Then three months ago my husband whose always trying to find something to help make my life a little better. When he came across Dr. Colberts books, "The Keto Diet" and "Let Your Food Be Your Medicine". It took him a month to convince me to try it because the skeptic inside me decided that there was no way this was going to work......Boy was I ever wrong, I have just completed my seventh week of living and eating my way to good health. After going through both books, "The Keto Diet & Let Your Food Be Your Medicine"....We focus on the things Dr. Colbert suggested for me to do to relieve me of my pain. So I went on a very strict version taken from the two books. The first few days were difficult but it was only mind over matter plain and simple. After week one I noticed that my pain was reduced dramatically. I have stuck to the regimen to the letter just as Dr. Colbert described. I am now at the end of week seven and I feel like an absolute new man. I've went from someone who was living each day waiting for my life to end with no promise before me. I can honestly say this has completely and totally changed my life. I'm living with far less pain I've went from a pain level of 7-8 to a pain level of 2-3 and getting better with each new day. I'm now up before 6 am and doing things in the house that I haven't done in years. In closing I want to say you truly are what you eat or don't eat...this has been totally worth it just for the fact that I haven't taken any pain medication since I started this life changing event, and as an added bonus to all of this I've lost 35 lbs. I'm truly not the same man. I not going to call this a diet but instead I'm calling it a "Life Improvement Eating Plan". My life has never been better and I'm eating lots of healthy food and taking less medications and all with my family doctors approval. Thank you Dr. Colbert for giving me a guide to a better and much improved life.

Very good book that explains how the way we eat causes most of our diseases and if we change to a healthy way of eating we canheal our body. I like that he has a 21 day meal plan in the back of the book also.

Love Dr. Colbert! I have quite a few of his books and I plan on adding to my collection until I've got all of them! This book is great, very well written, easy read, and a plethora of invaluable information on how to eat to stay healthy! I am a healthy eater to begin with, but this book has given me a fresh motivation to consider every bite of food I put in my mouth...will it fuel me or weigh me down? I eat to LIVE, not live to eat. I will be buying more copies to give out to friends and family, this information needs to be shared!

This was a really good book. I have nothing to compare it to in the sense of marketing, since I have not taken a marketing class, but the material was well organized and relevant. Not many topics were outdated and for $20 a good price. Minus one star because I had to study a lot -- and the book itself is rather long.

Poor condition when I received the book. I took it to one class and did not need the book for the semester and stored it in my filing cabinet. Returned the book and was charged $215 for damages, when I didn’t even use it. Very disappointed on this rental.

Great quality textbook. I purchased a like new book and was disappointed by the condition of the product! No highlighting or underlining in the pages, and the cover was free of any major dents or scratches. This was a much more affordable option to the prices I saw elsewhere. Excellent study guide for Marketing 101 course

I decided to rent this book as an eBook and boy did I regret it. It was hard to keep turning the pages and find things when doing quizzes and tests in a timely manner and it ended up slowing me down. The book is fine and gives you the info you need, but I made a mistake in not spending the extra money on a hardcover book.

For what it's worth I got an A in contracts.My course was all about black letter law. You will need this book, E&E Contracts, Crunchtime Contracts, access to CALI lessons, and access to Multi-State Bar multiple choice questions.Throughout the week teach yourself the material and outline using the E&E and the Crunchtime. On the weekend use the Cali Lessons and Multi-State Bar questions to drill the rules into your head. Save this book, the Lexis Q&A, for last. All the other supplements are good, but have occasional inaccuracies and occasional poor explanations. The Q&A is perfectly accurate and well structured, but it is like a piece of chocolate cake that is too rich: you have to work your way through slowly, with plenty of coffee breaks. Don't use this to teach yourself, use it to hone your knowledge. Some of these questions are damn hard, harder than anything a prof. will give you on a final, which makes it an excellent supplement weekly (after you've studied everything else) and again at the end of the semester (when you are reviewing).

This was awesome and so helpful for my contracts class because we had a great professor and I just needed some extra practice. The Q&A series is fantastic because they provide you with MC and Essays and full and complete explanations of the correct answers as well as why the correct answers are incorrect.

Only use this book if you know that your prof is going to have MC on the exam. This book will not be nearly as helpful if the exam is going to be all/mainly essays. For essay practice, get the E&E.

Practice questions are the only way to go for studying for exams. Q&A gives a great range of practice and prep.

I was expecting more insight from this book. Ended up not using it to study for the exam.

This is a must have supplement. It really helps to make sure you have your law right. I received a very high grade in my contracts class. In preparing for class I read the assigned readings, then read the corresponding section in Acing Contracts (West Law Study Aid) and read the corresponding section in Gilbert's Outline (West Law Study Aid). I would then do the section in this book, I got the kindle version which is great because I could delete all the highlights and went through the questions again right before finals. It worked well!! I would get the questions and answers book for each class and subscribe to the West Law Study Aid subscription (worth every penny!).

Great book to help me understand completely helpful for my classes and for the test. Very pleased with it. )

Not for everyone certainly, but this, Diderot's full encyclopedia, was the internet of it's time. I only wish I could find the full text and not just the illustrations. Our present electronic technology is so precarious, so delicate. It would be good to at least know the old methods. True a lot of these trade operations were unbelievably toxic and created quite a bit of pollution, but there are a lot of ingenious workings. Besides, I just love these old drawings!
