About the Author

Sandra Boynton is a beloved American cartoonist, children’s author, songwriter, and highly sporadic short film director. Boynton has written and illustrated sixty children’s books and seven general audience books, including five New York Times bestsellers. More than 70 million of her books have been sold—“mostly to friends and family,” she says. Good concept, however very poorly designed. I guess some dates just didn’t seem as important to the designer being as the have certain dates cover with cartoons (hope you don’t have more then one friend or family member with any of those dates).. doesn’t make much sense. I wouldn’t recommend this product. And I wouldn’t purchase again.

I hated having to go through the calendar every year to put in all the birthdays, trying not to miss any. This is the solution. This is the calendar that you keep, just for keeping all the birthdays and other anniversaries on. It's not for daily events like "Soccer game 6:30" - just for annual things that are on the same date each year.This does not have the days of the week, nor a year; just the dates. If you put something like "Fred's birthday, born 1997" on March 20th, it stays there - and year after year, you'll see it there - this is not a calendar that becomes obsolete on Dec. 31st - it is, to borrow a gardening term, a "Perennial".Any big family needs one of these to keep track of all the cousins, nieces and nephews, and everybody.My only (minor) complaint - why is called "Mom's"? I'm the Dad in my family, and *I* bought this for our family use!

I have used the same piece of poster board planner for birthdays, anniversaries, and other memorable family dates for 15 years. Never realized there was a "Birthday calendar" available. This is a wonderful tool and I think it would be great as a wedding gift so the new bride would know about "special" family dates.

Gave as a gift for my youngest daughter who has 10 children. I filled in all the family 'B'days & anniversaries for her for a jump start. She loved it.

Love how this is the birthday, special occasion calendar that NEVER has to come down and keeps me remembering family and friends' special days.

I like the size. The slick paper is difficult to write on.

My five-year old grandson is obsessed with the Wild Kratts. While he remembers everything he hears on the show and does not hesitate to share his knowledge, reading aloud is a different story. He loves being read to, but he does not want to read to us. I had high hopes that “Wild Kratts Wild Sea Creatures: Sharks, Whales, and Dolphins!” would help break down his resolve not to read aloud.The text of this book is interesting and informative. With the exception of Great White Sharks, each different creature is discussed on two facing pages. The print is large and easy to see; there is not so much text that it overwhelms a child reading the book. The illustrations look much like the animation from the “Wild Kratts” television show.“Wild Kratts Wild Sea Creatures: Sharks, Whales, and Dolphins!” is an excellent book with which to encourage young readers. My grandson has been willing to try reading this book aloud. It features some of his favorite PBS characters; it is short, but not too short; and, Martin and Chris “Activate Creature Power”!

This reader is interesting and educational. It combines fiction because they use their “creature powers” and a lot of non-fiction as it is full of animal facts. It isn’t a story with bad guys like in the show. The book is a collection of information about sea creatures.This is a level 2 reader, but it is an advanced level 2 reader due to content and length. For example, it has advanced words like “ordinary” and “tentacles”. It is 32 pages long and a challenge for a child that can read some of the simpler readers alone. This book can be a read-aloud until the child is ready to read on his or her own.The pictures look exactly like those in the show. The illustrations are clear and help the children make observations and be able to understand the text. Overall, this is an excellent book.

My daughter loves Wild Kratts and loves reading these books. They are educational and an easy read. They aren’t put together very well as the seam does begin to separate rather quickly. But it’s an inexpensive book and I’m sure I can fix it with glue.

This book has some really big words for being a level 2 book. I bought this for a boy who struggles to read and there is no way he could read this on his own, and he is a level 2 in most other books. This book did have nice cartoons in the book

Excellent DVD, both entertaining and educational. Good quality graphics, my grandchildren love watching Wild Kratts because they learn so much and they make learning fun. Would recommend.

My 3-year-old loves watching the Kratts brothers on TV! But when it's time for a calmer activity - like bedtime - she enjoys going through this book with mommy and talking about all the sea creatures in it.

This is an excellent book for a young reader. Not too easy nor to challenging I recommend this book for 5-6 year olds

This book is seemingly a compilation of dive locations frequented by dive resorts, with little independent research or reviews of specific dive outfitters. The book lacks basic information on water temperatures, currents, winds and seasonal influences. The independent traveller primarily interested in snorkeling will also be disappointed in the lack of practical information on the best sections of the main islands for shoreline snorkeling.

This is a great reference book to take with you to Fiji. It is very informative and up to date.

Simple no-nonsense guide to diving in Fiji

This is an attractive book which the scuba diver will want to order. It maps and describes 74 of Fiji's top dive sites and the color photography is excellent. Despite the title, however, those interested in beach-based snorkeling will find little of use here as almost all of the sites included are accessible by boat only. Even the new Waitabu Marine Park off Taveuni is mentioned only in passing. There's virtually no practical resort or restaurant information, and the first quarter of the book is devoted to brochure-style hype you can read on almost any Fiji website. Critical reviews of dive facilities are strikingly absent, so this book is of no help in selecting a specific scuba operator. Five pages of listings in the back of the book provide basic contact information, but even this is out of date as all Fiji telephone numbers have increased from six to seven digits since the book was published. Most of the email addresses are also wrong, so substitute @connect.com.fj whenever you see @is.com.fj. Nevertheless, when one considers the cost of a scuba tour to the South Pacific and the lack of any alternative Fiji dive guide, all of the above criticisms are mute and serious divers will click this title straight into their shopping carts.

As a master diver who has dived since 1956, and has visited many of Fiji's dive sites, I can heartily recommend this book to anyone contemplating diving Fiji. The Mahaney - Witte team- authors, photographers and dive tour guides well-known and respected in the diving community- are knowledgeable and credible. Mind you, NO book can ever catalogue ALL of Fiji's diverse and innumerable dive sites... but this book is well planned, has a very good selection of sites- rated for conditions and experience levels- and information for the would-be Fiji diver. The book has some maps, and a visual feast of photos. In summary- going to Fiji to dive? Be prepared for stiff currents, and a kaleidoscope of colorful fishes and soft corals... and BUY THIS BOOK! Dive well and safely.

I bought this book primarily because I am going to Fiji in two months and wanted info on snorkeling. Boy was I surprised to find only half a page devoted to snorkeling. The rest of the book is a brief description of various dive sites.The book does have nice pictures and basic information regarding the more popular dive sites in Fiji. But as a snorkeling reference, it is worthless.

I am afraid I was sorely dissapointed by this book. I brought the book hoping for not only a list of dive sites but also the exact latitudes and longitudes of the dive sites. The book only had very vague maps that were lucky to get you within 2 miles of the dive site.Whats the point of giving you all that information on a dive site except how to get there!!! All the information in the book (except the coordinates of the dive sites) is just as easily obtained from the local dive companies, so I simply dont see the point in purchasing the book.About the only good thing was it allows you to plan dives before you even get to Fiji. The book only had 3 dive sites listed for the Yasawa Islands - which have lots of good dive sites.Given the book was published in 2000 and I was in Fiji in 2009 I guess the book is basically getting quite dated now.Dive sites like Gotham City, which got its name after the Bat fish that live there, no longer seem to have any Bat fish. Sad but possibly a factor of the age of the book and locals who have been eating the bat fish?
