This book downloaded to my Kindle yesterday, and I had planned to read it over the weekend. Had a bit of a lull at work and started reading it. Suffice to say there was little work done yesterday afternoon as I got hooked on the book and didn't put it down until I finished it. If any of my customers complain, my answer will be 'but it was a Melissa Brayden book!' I'm sure they will understand. As always the writing was crisp, the story nicely paced and the dialogue clever. I would expect no less from this author. I think Strawberry Summer has more depth of emotion to it than some of her other books. Expect to be put through the emotional wringer with this one, folks. While the plot was somewhat predictable, I didn't feel like that took anything away from enjoyment of the story. Read this book, you won't be disappointed.

Assuming you have read the synopsis, I'll skip a summary and get right to my main selling point about this book.I almost always despise angst or overly dramatic situations in romance novels. They have an entirely unrealistic feel and serve no perpose other than to make a general romance genre seem "thrilling" to read. That being said, this book is so far my one and only exception to my previous disappointments! That is due entirely to the talents of this author! The story begins with the characters separated, and contains several angsty moments throughout the book as well. However the main character stole the show with her quipy humor and clever outlook on her life. While no siblings I have ever met are quite as caring as these two, their relationship is something to be adored. Her relationship with her parents is also amazing, and I greatly enjoyed exploring the life of this heroine. The romance in this book was definitely amazing and you could almost feel the connection that these two had for one another. The entire book was creatively and beautifully written and I was floored that Ms. Brayden took concepts that I usually hate and made them spectacular for me to enjoy.Overall, this book was very fun to read, and left a lasting impression!

This book is sweet, and the characters are all likable. The author does well with their dialogue for the most part, and I was actually impressed with how often the lead characters executed cute, funny, witty banter. (The flirtation and innuendo got to be a little too much, however.) Author does surprisingly well describing the intimate scenes, but my god there were so many, it was really excessive. Almost like they were just fillers between strawberry-picking facts and conflict. All in all it was sweet and happy, with characters you can actually root for, and a storyline that will keep you interested and smiling. No shortage of chemistry in this book, for sure. The thing that bugged me more than anything was the constant reference to Santa Barbara. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Santa Barbara, and went there for school - but the author seemed to know nothing at all about the area - NOTHING - so I don't see why she chose to reference it, and with such regularity. There is somehow a fictional small strawberry hick town 30 mins from Santa Barbara? Okay, fine, maybe you're talking about something inland from Santa Maria ... even though that is a stretch.A lesbian bar somewhere on the outskirts of Santa Barbara? GIRL.... there is no "outskirts" of SB, and there isn't even an actual gay bar IN Santa Barbara. In fact, there isn't even a lesbian bar in SF any more!!It just bugged me so much. Why write so specifically and often about a place you clearly spent like a 40 minute rest stop in one time? Odd. Quite odd. That said, if you've gotten this far, you're on the hunt for some lesbian fiction that is some modicum of tolerable and interesting, so you should just buy the book. It's sweet, it'll do nicely for your purposes, and it will pass your lesbian free time enjoyably.I've been in your position, and you've read a whole lot worse.

Melissa Brayden, has a special gift to pullSomeone's heart and hold it tenderly fill it with love from her books and then give that heart back better, wiser and fullOf love. Every one should have a Strawberry summer.Filled with love, joy, laughter and THAT special some youNever ever forget. I had one . Sit back with this beautifulBook and return to that special summer. I did🌹

Brayden didn't disappoint with yet another finely written piece by her. Her character development is spot on and the dialogue between her characters is totally believable and desirable leaving you wanting more and rooting for them every step of the way. The nice touches of symbolism didn't go unnoticed either through the several occasions of tears I shed for these light hearted and lovable and at times broken and flawed characters and their ups and downs throughout their journey. Thank you for sharing your gift of story telling with your readers it is truly a joy to get to spend time with your characters and the bits and pieces of yourself you weave in there too. I would definitely recommend this to other readers. It feels real, raw and has left an imprint on my heart and mind. Be well - read and write on. Thank you again.

Review

"The universe of Sapkowski's The Witcher is one of the most detailed and best-explored in modern fantasy, offering endless opportunities for fresh ideas ... Complex character relationships enrich this already complex world; this is the sort of series fantasy fans will cherish."―B&N "One of the best and most interesting fantasy series I've ever read. Though it functions well as adventure fiction, it has added depth and value as satire and commentary on fantasy literature ... Sapkowski is a genuine stylist."―Nerds of a Feather"Like a complicated magic spell, a Sapkowski novel is a hodgepodge of fantasy, intellectual discourse, and dry humor. Recommended."―Time"Like Mieville and Gaiman, [Sapkowski] takes the old and makes it new ... fresh take on genre fantasy."―Foundation on The Last Wish"A breath of fresh air in a well-worn genre. Don't miss it!"―Fantasy Book Review"Sapkowski has a phenomenal gift for narrative, inventing sensational events, creating a suggestive mood, and building up the suspense along with a dazzling, slightly cynical sense of humor."―Jacek Sieradzki, Polityka on The Last Wish"Sapkowski's The Last Wish is a great collection of short stories centered around a witcher, Geralt - a rare sorcerous breed who hunts down the monstrous but is feared by the innocent. With a wondrous mix of Eastern European folklore and myth, beautiful princesses, mischievous demons and where all is not as it seems, The Last Wish is a great read - perfect for dipping into or just reading cover to cover, as I did."―Waterstones"It is [his] world-weariness combined with his battle-honed powers that make Geralt such an interesting character. Here's hoping The Last Wish is merely the opening chapter in his English language adventures."―Edge"I really, really enjoyed this book ... None of the characters in Sapkowski's world are black or white; they are all shades of grey, including Geralt and the monsters."―The Deckled Edge"Sapkowski is very good at creating interesting, imaginative characters with unusual levels of depth to them ... The Last Wish is an enjoyable book full of stories both melancholy and comic."―The Wertzone

The Lady of the Lake is the final book in the Witcher Saga, but the story is extended in the Award Winning Witcher Video Game Series. Reading these books makes me appreciate the stories of the games even more. If you're not a gamer, this is the glorious end of an epic adventure. The Witcher Saga is a complex story about powerful kings, sorceresses, emperors, lords, assassins, spies, and criminals battling each other in wars, diplomacy, rhetoric, and deceit. This battle is set in a dangerous world based on folklore with mythical monsters and powerful magic. Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, is drawn into a tangled web of intrigue when his adopted daughter from a unique and powerful bloodline draws the attention of the major powers in the world. Accompanied by his most loyal friends, Geralt battles his way to the end of the world to help Ciri as she tries to evade enemies as ambitious as they are deadly. The world of the Witcher is populated with greedy simple minded peasants, deadly beasts, ancient evils, curses, and almighty kings. This story adds credibility to the old folktales and brings them to life. Because this series is rooted in folklore, it seems more genuine. The characters are complex with their own motivations, emotional scars, rivalries, and alliances. You get to know them so well, you’ll start laughing out loud at their mannerisms and grumblings. The story structure jumps all over the damn place, but it seems to work. A major event will happen with the main characters. A scholar from Oxenfort will discuss its impact on history 100 years in the future, a band of mercenaries at a campfire will talk about the legend, and the saga will resume with the main characters. This ads depth and broadens the world, and it works. In any other book series, this would have been a terrible distraction. The action is visceral and has dire consequences. There are wizard duels, beasts, skirmishes, brawls, wars, battle tactics, chases, and assassinations. It's all very well written and puts you in the middle of the action. These books have some swearing, torture, sex, graphic violence, and horror. They are not for kids. You'll need to read the other books in the series to understand The Lady of the Lake. Reading these out of order would be like taking all of the Game of Thrones Episodes and shuffling them. It's not something you should ever do.Overall, this is a great saga about a drinking, whoring, gambling, lout, who proves his love for his adopted daughter by risking everything and battling his way to the ends of the world for her. The characters and world are complex. The action is great. The fantasy and lore is very well developed. The pacing stalls at times and the story skips around a bit, but these are the only gripes I have with this series. Geralt of Rivia is one of my all-time favorite characters and his story is legendary. If you enjoyed these books, I highly recommend the Witcher Games. The stories in the books act as "Choose your own adventure" and the decisions you make ultimately determine who lives and who dies. The Witcher 3 is the greatest game I have ever played.

The book was all over the place with irrelevant stories.. All I wanna read about is Geralt and his companions. All the books before this I thought the story with Geralt and his companions was 4-5 stars.... It did get annoying when the book would have 10 pages talking about the politics of the world. The story line with Jarre was okay, but the whole Ciri travelling to different realities was really weird. The beginning of the book made no sense to me. Was she in our reality or what? One of the last parts was really cheesy. "I wanna see the Sun," C'mon man. Then Geralt's fight with a mob... He's fought much worst opponents and decimated them... When the series introduced "The Lodge of Sorceresses" I was excited to see what kind of crazy stories they would have but yet those parts seemed to be one of the most boring and annoying. Overall the series was really good, Except for this last book. Very disappointing ending, I'm so glad CD Projekt Red took a new turn and made this fantasy world spectacular. All 3 of the Witcher games' stories are a 10/10 for me... These books really changed the way I thought of some characters. Dandelion is great, Triss is amazing, and Geralt's dwarf friends are awesome. The biggest change of my opinion would have to be Yennefer though. I really disliked Yennefer after reading the books and finding out more about her personality/past... and finding out what she really is behind all that magical make-up lol

As usual, Sapkowski knocks it out of the park. Only 100 or so pages in, but suspect I'll have it finished by the end of the week. Many have compared The Witcher story to Lord of the Rings and Sapkowski to Tolkien. My only regret is not knowing Polish so that I could read the series in it's native language.

I am a witcher fan through and through! I have read every book and played the games as well and was not disappointed. My only issue is this is the last witcher book so I'm sad! I would say this is the wordiest and most complex of the books since it jumps from perspective to perspective, time zone and story line, but all the books are like that really. This one is the most intense concerning all those factors though. The audio version with Peter Kenny is amazing and turns it into a real life experience as you read along with the narrator! My favorite book is the Last wish aka the first book you're meant to read, but he ending to this one is very sweet and sad. I did expect a more complex ending it was very fairytale like but maybe after all the hardship, the author softened up a bit! Overall great adult fantasy series for people who want something mature and challenging to keep up with yet still makes you feel like a kid again!

This series is phenomenal. It's definitely "for adults" without being too gory or graphically sexual. I would feel alright letting my pre-teen son read it, despite infrequent language used, for the beauty of the language and the depth of interpersonal relationships set in a world warring with itself and to empathize with sticking to your moral guns even when it seems like it's a losing battle - because the battle itself is the victory! When a story is translated from a whole other language and culture, sometimes things get lost in translation, however, with this series I have found myself continually delighted with how the story unfolds.Sometimes the books that are later made into video games or movies and the video game/movie itself are nothing alike, however, we also have played The Witcher III on Playstation4 and feel that the compliment and supplement each other. If you didn't get enough story from the game, definitely pick up the books for those long commutes (tho not if you are driving!), and waiting room stays! I've started reading this over again in my hour before bed of no electronics to aid with correcting insomnia.

I found the book to be very helpful in getting started and still use it if I am stumped. I would highly recommend this book if you are as computer illiterate as I am. If you are a "techie" you won't need it. She seems to explain things in the simplest, understandable terms.

Great little guide for switching from PC to Apple OS. Recommend highly -- essential info to get a good start on Apple OS for former Windows users.

this was not worth the cost , I returned it.

I’m lost without this book since I really don’t know anything about MAC computer systems

Poor

If you want to learn Linux, learn Linux. If your business is suggesting that you learn Mac OS, a quick google search will provide you with 1000's of reasons why this is a terrible idea. Please do your part to educate your coworkers. Mac is Wack.
